1H RVOL

Definition / Formula

Relative volume of the trailing one-hour in-session window against the same trailing window in previous sessions at the same slot.

1H RVOL = sum(volume over the trailing 12 x 5m slots of this session)
/ mean(the same slots in prior sessions)

Window: 12 slots of 5 minutes, that is 60 minutes, counted from the session open (Tokyo 09:00, London 08:00 or New York 09:30, local time). A missing bar counts as zero volume.

Base: prior sessions only. The current session day is excluded from the mean.

Lookback: prior sessions only, taken from the stored history of 21 days on the weekday calendar or 20 days on the weekend calendar, today being one of those days. The mean uses as many prior sessions as exist; one is enough.

Early in a session the window is not yet full. The window starts at the session open on both sides of the ratio, so today’s first slots are compared with the same first slots of prior sessions until 12 slots have closed.

Outside all three sessions: the base switches to the same trailing hour of the UTC day in prior days.

Rounding: the cell shows two decimals. Tier uses the value rounded to two decimals.

Special state: an em dash while a TradFi instrument is closed for the weekend.
